It is. There’s many different ways to celebrate that day. It has changed over the years too.

I guess every culture changes over the years to suit the mood of that time. This reminds me of our own Festival of Lights that has changed drastically over the years 😀

I’ve been hearing about St. Lucia’s Day since I moved to Minnesota, with it’s massive Scandinavian population, and I’ve always worried about those girls’ hair catching on fire. How do you do this without setting young girls on fire?

A wet towel on the head under the lightcrown. But the stearic in the hair is not a nice experience for Lucia. It’s not that glamorous to be the Lucia figure. The candles creates heat and stearic. But it’s beautiful to watch those light creatures 🙂

For us Anna, it is the third Sunday of Advent and it is the Sunday of Joy. The priest wears pink and the Advent candle is pink. Maybe it – St. Licy’s Day and the Sunday of Joy is to give us hope as we desend into the darkest part of the year.
