I found this one today on my walk.
This is actually a lizard, but it looks like a snake. In Swedish we call it copper lizard. Maybe it’s because it’s skin shines like copper.
If you want to see some real snakes from Sweden you can pay the blog Fotobloggarna a visit. Lots of great photos of Swedish nature and many posts is about snakes.

We have them in Cornwall as well, and I doubt I’ll ever understand the difference between a snake and a legless lizard.

For me it’s almost the same. They look like little prehistoric animals weather they’re snakes or lizards. I keep a distance from them.

Thanks. I think so too. That little creature is often around, but I saw it for the first time this year yesterday.

It does look very much like a snake. It’s smaller and thinner than Swedish snakes though. Maybe thats the big difference.

Thanks a lot for sharing, I have seen it in real life for decade(s) ago.
It is PROTECTED in UK, Norway and here in Sweden among other countries. In Denmark and Finland it is allowed to catch for limited research purposes.

Thanks for the information. I know it’s protected in Sweden, but the rest I didn’t know.
