The first ladybird of the year. At least the first I have seen this Spring.
As a kid I thought they were fantastic beautiful little fairy tale creatures.
As a grown up I know they can be millions and then they are not fun at all.
In Swedish we call them KeyMaiden in a direct translation. Nyckelpiga in Swedish.
I love to see them too. We call them Marienkäfer. The ones with 7 spots are not so bad. It is the Chinese ones with more than 10 spots that can be a nuisanc.

That’s interesting to know. I wonder if our naming of the ladybird, Maria Ladybird comes from Marienkäfer back in the days when many Swedes talked german.

They’re good luck, supposedly. 😃

Oh that’s good to hear. I could use some good luck actually. I hope my post about my finding can give all readers good luck too 🙂

Amen, Anna. They’re cool little creatures, aren’t they? We get inundated by them in the Fall here. 1000’s of them, it seems. They’re inside too, On every window. It’s crazy. 😃

We only had ladybirds invasion ones. They were everywhere. But normally they are just outside and a lot fewer than thousands at the same time 🙂

That is really interesting I didn’t know that you also call them so.

I found an answer. The virgin Mary had the key to heaven according to catholics and the ladybird helped her. You can read more here

Thank you very much. Although I am catholic I didn’t know that😇

We call them Ladybugs, Anna. They are wonderful for the garden because they eat the aphids. She looks a little cold there. How about a drawing of her?

I would really like to do a drawing. I see if I can find some time to do that. Thanks for the idea!

A Ladybug would make a cute drawing, don’t you think?

I haven’t seen a ladybird in years! Though I guess as adults, we miss these beautiful creatures. 💕🐞

I put my childish eyes on sometimes and then I discover many things I probably would miss as an adult.

I like ‘Keymaiden’ (and saw your explanation in the comments).
Here I keep an eye out for the swallows and swifts arriving-a true herald of summer.

It the same here. We have a saying “one swallow does not make a Summer”. I have no idea what that means. If I see one little swallow I say Summer is here.

I suppose it means don’t jump to early conclusions!

You are right. But even the slightest little Spring sign makes me jump very early to conclusions about Spring arrival 🙂

Me too-it’s wishful thinking 😀

Oh, when you say wishful thinking I just remembered a favorite song from the eighties

Yes – China Crisis. If I may be as bold to ask a lady her age? I was born in ’71 and so these type of groups were going during my high school years 🙈

I was born ’70 so the ’80s music is my teenage years 🙂

A ladybird on your doorstep brings you luck and good fortune, it is said.
