I think they make beautiful colors in the sky, but I don’t like the sound and I don’t like the money waste.
Dogs and cats don’t like it and I can imagine what the sound does to people who escaped from war zones. People also get hurt by lighten the fireworks.
What can we use our money for instead?
The final drawing this year (I think) will be this one:
Happy new year and if you want to tell us what you think about new years eve or fire works or anything else, feel free to speak up in the comments 🙂
“See” you all next year, I hope.
Anna
Happy New Year Anna! Yeah, even though we live out in the middle of nowhere, there’ll still be fireworks visible and audible. Doesn’t seem to bother our dog or cats too much though. They are a bit of wasted money, but I’ll watch others’ set em off and let them waste their money. 😃

That’s a good way. For the first time since I was a kid I didn’t stay up waiting for the new year. I got an early start in the morning the first day of the year instead and I like it. It’s a new experience:)

Great minds!
I don’t do fireworks either and do not watch others very much. I wouldn’t mind if there weren’t any at all.
With or without fireworks: All the best for the next year for you!

Fireworks makes pollution in real life but I hope in coming year we can be able to light some fireworks in virtual reality then everything will be fine there will be noise of fireworks only on your Oculus Rift and other virtual machines. And there will be no air pollution too.

I haven’t done fireworks since my younger days. Although they are beautiful in the sky; somehow, it does not seem worth the bother.

OH! Whew! I was at my friends house last night, came home maybe 2 hours ago! Their cat, poor thing was freaking out because of all the fireworks going off outside!

No, we don’t do fireworks on New Years Eve. We have a family meal and celebrate then.

Me neither. I even got to sleep without waiting for the new year this new years eve. I made an early start of the first day of the new year instead. That’s a new experience:)

We stayed up this year because we had to wait until everyone got here before we ate. Dinner was very long and before we new it it was almost midnight.

A dear friend back in California is part Russian and gives the best New Year’s parties. Just before midnight she hands out a special Russian sparkler (a specialty shop in her town) and invites everyone outside for the big ‘blast’. They are more spectacular than the ‘normal’ ones available on every street corner for the 4th of July. There is a rousing chorus of Auld Lang Syne and then back to the food and stimulating conversation. She is an artist as are most of the guests.
However, my mind always goes back to a 4th of July back when I lived in New York. We visited friends of my then husband and their flat overlooked Coney Island. Yes, Trump Towers. We were on the 16th floor and there was a family on the terrace next to us. They had a small supply of the ‘safer’ fireworks and the sky above Coney Island provided the rest. All of a sudden there were screams and their celebration and ours ended. The young boy 7 years of age had gotten a bit of sparkler in his eye and was blinded there. So despite some amazing fireworks I’ve seen from Vietnam to Paris and our own little village, I still remember that boy.
Bonne année et bonne santé!

I like the colors, but not the sound and not the pollution and not the money waste, so I can do without too 🙂

This is a fantastic painting. I agree with everything you said. Yes, fireworks are beautiful, but they are cruel to dogs and cats. Also, my mother was burned by them once. Your painting sums it up very nicely.

Thank you. Yes fireworks we could do without:)

I got to admit I like the way fireworks look but it is such a waste of money and resources 😦

I agree, they’re colorful in the sky, but a total waste in any other way.

If only we could create them without generating waste ;). And none noisy ones while we are at it lol. The dog of my sister in law never recovered from an especially noisy fireworks night. 😦

I’m with you on that. No noice and no waste. Just beautiful colors in the sky!
