Found a pastel painting from last pumpkin season.
What is pumpkin to you?
For me it’s Fall time, beautiful colors and amazing that nature can create pumpkins.

Pumpkin time is Halloween time and if you’re a kid it is the most fun time of the year. You get to dress up into something imaginary and go from door to door to collect candy. What could be more fun than that?

It starting to come here too, the Halloween thing, but the kids here collect candy in Easter time. Now they collect candy at Halloween too.

Probably depends on who we ask 😉

When our kids were young we used to do all sorts of things with pumpkins

That’s fun. When I was a kid there were no pumpkins. I think they came later.

Halloween and candy is a US thing – when we were kids in the UK, the only mention of Halloween was that it was the one night in the year when ghosts and ghouls would come out to play at mid-night. It freaked us out and we always wanted to make sure we were sleeping so we didn’t see them! Now, the candy trick or treating thing is getting big in the UK – the shops are full of all sorts of Halloween stuff. More pressure on parents to spend money – it makes me laugh to see so many people that shun Paganism getting involved! And why on earth would you let your kids eat so much sugar and colouring? I love pumpkins but I hate their connection to this cynical exercise in getting people to spend money on junk.

We have the same in Sweden. Halloween was nothing we paid attention to until the stores and shops began to make it a big thing. I have a hard time understanding the greatness in begging and candycollecting. Sure for kids it’s fun to get candy, but what do we learn them by that?

Great pastel pic by the way – sorry, I forgot to say that in my rant! 😀🎃

Thank you. I was trying out some dry pastels, but it’s difficult to make art with them.

To me? Pumpkin bread. Pumpkin pie.

The pumpkin pies I have eaten have been rather bland. I like the patterns that can be carved into the pumpkins, though.

I never carved pumpkins, but I think I should try that sometime. It seems like fun.

To me it’s just a happy orange colour and a great ingredient for risotto – not the whole Halloween ghoulish night! Actually the tradition has caught on here in Italy too. I only like the little ghost-shaped cookies with white icing 🙂
