I have a confession to make. Numbers have effect on me. I didn’t thought they have, but they sure do.
Every view or un-view, every like or no like, every comment or no comment counts.
When I read OMs number and stats post I often think – am I the same or do I think different when it comes to numbers in stats?
I don’t. I do check stats and find them amusing when they go up and makes me wonder when they goes down.
It’s like OM always says. It’s all about how much time you devote to your blog. He’s right.
When I don’t have enough time to write posts och read blogs and commment and like, my stats goes down.
When I work hard with writing posts and show activity on other blogs stats improves.
Even though numbers in stats counts, I also blog because of you guys. The responses I get is really inspirering and kind of a nice company.
I like when my ipad says “pling” everytime something happens on my blog.
So numbers and “plings” do count. By that I mean, you all count for me 😉

I am happy to give you a “pling” 🙂
I have got to the point personally where I actually get to read whether or not people have read my blog… I am not sure when I actually reached the point of not worrying whether or not people are looking at my page. I think it is probably because I am writing more for myself than I am for other people.
Having said that, of course I would love to get lots of feedback on the work, but I have stopped expecting it to come.

I spent almost two years of blogging before I realized I could act different as a blogger and then reach more people and get more views, likes and comments. So don’t give up 🙂

Quality or quantity? Sometimes I forget why I am doing this and just look at numbers. There are times when I wish I could ignore them more.

Me too. On the other hand, without numbers no followers, no comments, no likes. And that’s the fun part. “Meeting” people 🙂

I agree with you to an extent. I am a new blogger so i love to know that other people read what I say and that they like it. On the other hand a lot of time my posts are to record the thoughts for myself, because I think I forget so much. It helps me to remember even if no one else reads.

Good idea about using your blog as a memory help. I forget a lot too.

I started out writing because I enjoy it and thought perhaps a few others might as well. Now I check my stats frequently, which is silly. I don’t know if I just want to see my efforts come to fruition, or if I need approval. I certainly hope it’s the former!

I know, it’s really silly. But I see the stats as a inspiration to always try to improve my writing and tell about my paintings in the best way I can.

Färgaregårdsanna,
It’s not silly.

Maybe you’re right. But sometimes it feels silly, but it is fun when stats go up 🙂

They count very much. I find that responses are much like a pile of fertilizer. The bigger the pile the more fertile my mind and effort becomes to write and share.

Hey Anna! I have struggled with this a lot over the last year… the need for recognition via likes and comments. It nearly drove me from writing. I decided that I would just share on my blog the things that I enjoy and if people end up liking and commenting, then great… if not… oh well. I check my stats once a week and then review which days were the best and what content I posted on those days that people enjoyed the most. Then I work to include more of that kind of content. I will never reach the numbers that OM has, but it’s nice to have the small audience I do have. And I am trying so hard to be a better reader for those I follow and leave likes AND comments. It takes more time, but I like the personal touch of commenting. Have a blessed day, Anna! and !PLING!

I think you’re right. The content is what actually matters. I’m beginning to learn that about my self now. Pling 🙂
